Overview

The MindTap DESIGN BASICS, 9th Edition eBook reader has a unique visual presentation, which provides an intuitive reading experience that positions beautifully displayed artworks beside the accompanying text. This reader’s two-pane design allows students to view images on the left side while reading about them in the scrolling text discussion on the right. The MindTap also offers “In the Studio” videos of art classes, chapter-opener lectures from the author, and interviews with artists and designers; as well as dozens of activities and learning modules that help students understand and apply the foundations of art.

  • MindTap is the first image-led educational software for art that keeps the core content – the images—at the forefront of study. This highly customizable and interactive, image-first digital experience encourages students to discover the basics of design with a visually rich eBook that places the images, surrounding discussion and curated content all on the same two-page spread. Students can zoom in on and expand image details, explore curated content such as videos and interview vignettes, access links to related art and design websites, and more—all without losing their place in the discussion.
  • Build and personalize your course by integrating your own content into the MindTap Learning Path using your own documents or pull from sources like RSS feeds, YouTube videos, websites, Google Docs and more. Control what content students see and when they see it with a learning path that can be used as-is or matched to your syllabus exactly.
  • Save students money in their course materials with a single destination that reflects exactly what’s important to you, the instructor.
  • Provide students with organizational and study tools designed to better manage their limited time, allowing them to complete assignments whenever and wherever they are ready to learn.
  • The Message Center app helps you to quickly and easily contact students directly from the MindTap platform. Any message posted in the Message Center is communicated directly to each student enrolled in the course via the communication medium designated by the student.
