Overview
Now more than ever before institutions of higher education are being called upon to provide students with information in the classroom that can contribute to the success of students in the workplace. Unlike any other philosophy text, PHILOSOPHERS AT WORK contains "Practice" sections written by philosopher practitioners who demonstrate how their knowledge of the problems, methods, and theories of philosophy provide powerful tools for addressing the dilemmas that arise in diverse work settings. Through the "Issues and Practice" sections, students are able to gain an understanding of the practical value of philosophy.
- Each chapter has a "Practice" section which clarifies the meaning and significance of philosophical issues, problems, theories, and methods.
- Practice papers are written in the first person by practitioners who are fully experienced on the topics they are discussing. The practitioners' biographies and photos are included with each reading.
- Each chapter includes many discussion questions encouraging students' critical reflection.
- Provides a balanced, comprehensive account of the issues of philosophy by including opposing perspectives in its "Issues" sections.
- Contains classical readings as well as secondary sources, exposing students to historically significant philosophical writings.
- More practice articles give students clear examples of philosophers at work and provides instructors with material for in class discussions.
