Overview
EXPLORACIONES CURSO INTERMEDIO is an engaging and accessible solution for your intermediate Spanish course that accommodates the diverse needs and motivations of today’s learners. It is a student- and instructor-friendly program that supports today’s contemporary students while building proficiency in all the language skills through communicative and contextualized activities. Consisting of 10 thematically based chapters designed to facilitate teaching for cultural and communicative competence, activities are varied, personal, and represent an approach that encourages students to engage at their current level while moving them to do more with their language learning in varied contexts.
- The A analizar section now features video with interview responses by native speakers of Spanish. The videos introduce students to new structures within a context and have an integrated online component. Students can view the video outside of class and complete a comprehension activity before being guided through the discovery learning process in order to recognize the patterns of use of a particular structure. Students then come to class prepared for a quick review of the structure and to move onto practice.
- The Conexiones, Comparaciones, Cultura, A escuchar, Video, Cortometraje and Literatura sections have integrated online components. They have been structured to allow instructors to use the pre-reading/pre-listening/pre-viewing activities from the text in class and then have the students complete another series of pre-reading/pre-listening/pre-viewing activities online outside of class in addition to comprehension activities and some thoughtful post-reading/post-listening/post-viewing activities to prepare them for meaningful in-class discussion.
- Exploraciones curso intermedio uses a step-by-step discovery learning approach to introduce grammar. The A perfeccionar activities help support students in their mastery of the most important grammar points. They can be used as in-class quizzing, worksheets, or supplemental homework for students. They are discrete answer and highly contextualized activities.
- Shorter, comprehensive chapters in a modern design present content in a more engaging and accessible format without minimizing coverage for your course.
- Authentic Video Program (two per chapter): 1) "Video cultural" features all-new journalistic footage from around the Spanish-speaking world. 2) "Cortometrajes" (authentic short films) provides a strong engagement piece to enhance a student's learning through rich visual and cultural input.
- Emphasis on proficiency: Activities are designed to assist students in synthesizing what they have learned and to expand their understanding.
- National Standards: Woven throughout the program, each chapter’s Cultural section promotes critical thinking while integrating the five Cs of language learning: Culture, Community, Comparisons, Connections, and Communication.
